Overview:

The Registered Nurse (RN) Nursing Professional Development Associate is responsible for identifying learning needs and assisting with the delivery and evaluation of evidence-based orientation, onboarding, competency, and continuing education programs across care settings. Applies current best practices and clinical standards to educational activities and utilizes simulation and other learning modalities to enhance skill development. Collaborates with nursing leadership and interdisciplinary team members to help align education with organizational strategy and priorities, regulatory requirements, and quality and safety goals, while contributing to the monitoring of outcomes and continuous improvement of educational programs.

Responsibilities:

Clinical Excellence

  • Plan, develops, organize and facilitate ongoing education for team members – will assess educational needs of each team member, assists in the development, implementation and evaluation of educational offerings by using formal and informal teaching methods.

Employee Development

  • Collaborates with Professional Development colleagues to co-facilitate the Nurse Residency program for newly graduated nurses.
  • Mentors less experienced team members, guides professional behaviors by acting as a positive role model while adhering to the policies and procedures of the organization, demonstrates the knowledge that patient and workplace safety is a priority by preventing errors, accidents and infections and reporting potential or actual concerns immediately.

Quality Improvement

  • Collaborates with nursing leadership to support implementation of evidenced based practice into the department setting.
  • Demonstrates initiative to improve quality by striving to exceed expectations.
  • Facilitate program data collection and outcome tracking as appropriate.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing OR Currently enrolled in RN to BSN program with completion within two years of hire date.
  • Minimum of three years’ registered nurse experience
  • Iowa RN license
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently with little oversight including demonstrated ability to meet the departments work schedule.
  • Demonstrates effective decision-making and problem-solving skills, flexibility, and the ability to take a leadership role in facilitating organizational change through partnerships with staff and managers.
  • Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English.
  • Basic computer knowledge using word processing, spreadsheet, email and web browser.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Manage priorities and deadlines.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge that patient and workplace safety is a priority by preventing errors, accidents and infections and reporting potential or actual concerns immediately.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of clinical skills related to patient safety.
  • Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.
