Title: RN Clinical Trainer

(Exempt/Full-Time/Onsite)

POSITION SUMMARY
The RN Clinical Trainer supports the mission of First Flight Health Centers by providing education, training, workflow guidance, and clinical systems support to promote high-quality, patient-centered, efficient, and compliant care across multiple health center locations. This position is responsible for onboarding new clinical staff, optimizing clinical workflows, supporting quality improvement initiatives, and enhancing utilization of the NextGen Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position oversees the development, implementation, validation, and ongoing assessment of clinical competencies for Medical Assistants (MAs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Registered Nurses (RNs), and other staff as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serves as the organizational lead for clinical support staff competency management and professional development
  • Serves as a subject matter expert on the NextGen EHR system, developing and delivering onboarding, ongoing education, and hands-on training for clinical support staff on workflows including patient registration, intake and rooming, clinical documentation, order management, referrals, care coordination, billing support, quality measure documentation, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provides “at-the-elbow” support to reinforce workflow adoption, improve staff proficiency, and ensure adherence to clinical, operational, and compliance standards.
  • Assists with onboarding of new employees and implementation of new health center locations, including training delivery, workflow standardization, policy implementation, and operational readiness activities.
  • Collaborates with leadership and cross-functional teams to evaluate clinical workflows and identify opportunities for process improvement, workflow optimization, standardization, and enhanced patient outcomes.
  • Supports the effective use of NextGen EHR tools, templates, registries, quality reporting functions, and clinical decision support resources.
  • Acts as a liaison between clinical staff, operational leadership, and information technology resources to identify system issues, support testing efforts, and assist with implementation of EHR enhancements and workflow improvements.
  • Provides education and guidance regarding integrated care delivery models, including coordination between medical, behavioral health, dental, pharmacy, care management, and enabling services.
  • Supports organizational quality improvement initiatives by developing training materials, competency assessments, workflow guides, and performance improvement resources.
  • Assists in monitoring compliance with FQHC requirements, including HRSA regulations, Uniform Data System (UDS) reporting standards, clinical quality measures, risk management protocols, and organizational policies.
  • Maintains accurate training records, competency documentation, attendance records, and performance metrics to support regulatory compliance and staff development.
  • Provides feedback to clinical leadership regarding staff performance, workflow challenges, training opportunities, and recommended corrective actions.
  • Participates in organizational committees, quality improvement teams, and workflow redesign initiatives as assigned.
  • Travels regularly between First Flight Health Centers locations to provide training, support operational consistency, and maintain strong relationships with clinical teams.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance and adheres to established work schedules.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio required or eligibility for licensure in Ohio
  • Minimum of three (3) years of nursing experience required; five (5) years preferred in primary care, family medicine, community health, ambulatory care, or Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) environments strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience utilizing NextGen EHR in support of clinical operations, workflow management, documentation standards, and staff training preferred.
  • Experience developing and delivering adult education, clinical training programs, or staff onboarding activities preferred.
  • Familiarity with HRSA requirements, UDS reporting, value-based care initiatives, and clinical quality measures a plus
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or obtained within three (3) months of hire.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation with ability to travel regularly between First Flight Health Centers locations required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physician must be able to move throughout the clinic to examine patients and perform clinical duties, including periods of standing, walking, and sitting, as well as occasional bending or reaching to access equipment or supplies. The role requires sufficient manual dexterity to perform physical examinations, operate medical instruments, and use a computer for documentation. The physician may occasionally lift or move items up to 25–40 pounds. Adequate vision and hearing are required to assess patients, review medical information, and communicate effectively.
