    UnityPoint Health - Cardiology Clinic

    RN Diagnostic OR Paramedic

    Cedar Rapids, IA 

    Shift/Hours: Part-time, 18 hours/week

     

     

    The Diagnostic Nurse/Paramedic provides direct diagnostic patient care services utilizing diagnostic equipment in accordance with those procedures, acts and processes permitted by law, for which the individual has received education and clinical experience and has demonstrated competency. This position requires application of clinical, cooperative and independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative to complete the variety of technical procedures.

    Responsibilities:

    Clinical Excellence/Patient Care

     
    • Perform clinical assessments and diagnostic cardiology procedures, including medication administration, while exercising professional judgment to optimize patient outcomes.
    • Provide patient care services across diagnostic cardiology areas, including cardiopulmonary testing, echocardiography, nuclear studies, treadmill testing, and procedure support.
    • Prepare preliminary procedure reports for physician interpretation and initiate billing for services performed.
    • Operate and maintain diagnostic and emergency medical equipment, including EKG machines, treadmill systems, IV pumps, defibrillators, and vital sign monitors.
    • Ensure patient safety by recognizing potential risks, responding to emergencies, and initiating appropriate interventions, including Code Blue situations.
    • Maintain crash cart readiness, monitor emergency equipment, and support compliance with safety and clinical standards.
    • Complete accurate documentation, incident reporting, and quality improvement activities, while contributing to procedure updates and accreditation initiatives.
    • Maintain required licensure/certifications and travel to assigned clinic locations as needed to support departmental operations.

     

    Qualifications:

    Education:

    • Graduate of a RN/LPN accredited program
    • Emergency Medical Technician (paramedic level or equivocal program)
    • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or Health Sciences (BSN) preferred

     

    Experience:

    • Minimum of 3 years of cardiology experience

    Licenses/Certifications:

    • Professional Licensure
    • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
    • Valid Driver's License when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons
    • Certified Cardiac Device Specialist (CCDS) preferred
