Position Overview

A confidential acute care hospital in Central Massachusetts is seeking an experienced RN Director – Operating Room to provide leadership and operational oversight for assigned perioperative nursing areas.

This role supports the Chief Nursing Officer and senior leadership team in ensuring high-quality, safe, and appropriate nursing care across assigned departments. The Director will assist in assessing, planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating nursing practice on a multi-unit level, while maintaining 24/7 accountability for assigned areas.

This is an excellent opportunity for a proven OR nursing leader with strong hospital operations experience, effective communication skills, and the ability to serve as a visible role model and advocate for professional nursing practice.

Key Responsibilities

The RN Director – Operating Room will:

  • Provide leadership and support for assigned nursing and patient care services.
  • Partner with the CNO and senior leadership to support quality, safety, clinical practice, and operational performance.
  • Assist in assessing, planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating nursing practice across assigned areas.
  • Maintain 24/7 accountability for assigned departments.
  • Support staff competency, appropriate resource management, and high standards of patient care.
  • Serve as a role model and advocate for professional nursing practice.
  • Use strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills to support clinical teams and hospital operations.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing school with a bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field, or a BSN.
  • Active Massachusetts RN license or eligibility to obtain one.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Minimum of 2 years of progressive management experience in a hospital environment as a manager or director.
  • Hospital-based Operating Room experience.
  • Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, and hospital operational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MSN or master’s degree in a healthcare-related field.
  • Prior director-level perioperative services leadership experience.
