RN - ED

About Facility:
o 44 Licensed beds
o Not Trauma Designated
o Teaching Hospital? Only Community Schools of Nursing
o Not a Chest Pain Center
o Not a Stroke Center
o Radius rule: Traveler's permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit
Unit Information:
o Beds: 10 ED bays
Helipad on site for transfers
o Minimum Years of Experience: 2 years ED RN experience (Resource Team requirement)
o Will you accept a first-time traveler? Not preferred will consider
Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
o COPD, CHF, Chest Pain, MI, N-STEMI, Stroke, TIA, new onset cardiac arrhythmia, minor trauma
Patient Ratios:
o RN: 1:4-5, based on acuity
o CNA: 1:10
Required Licensure & Certifications:
o RN: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, CPI required; TNCC (preferred)
Skills required:
o General ED skillset - Cardiac rhythm interpretation, experience with critical care drips, vent management, chest tubes, PIV starts, TNK/TPA administration, conscious sedation, Client Assessments, etc.
Support within the Department:
o CNA
o Charge nurse: may or may not have patient assignment
o IV/VAT Team: Ancillary dept, but not in house every day
o RT, 24/7
o Hospitalist, 24/7
o ED Physician Team
o Bedside and Central Tele Monitoring
Technology/Equipment:
o EMR: Epic
o IV Pump: Alaris
o Med dispensing: Omnicell
o Monitors: Phillips
o Unit specific equipment: General med-surg equipment and tele monitors
Floating:
o Will be required to float per region needs will require floating to all facilities listed below, as needed, within scope of practice DECLINE if not agreeable
o Region 2 - Pineville, Anson, Union, Union West, any Freestanding ED within Region, Central Division (CMC Main + CMC Mercy + Levine Children's Hospital)
o If floating mid-shift, Traveler will be paid for the time traveling between facilities (will remain on the clock)
Orientation (facility and unit):
o NEO
o 2 days departmental
Scheduling:
o Weekend rotation: every other
o No call
o Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays
o RTO: Can approve up to 6 days off, excluding holidays must add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours
