Registered Nurse - Emergency Room (Travel)

Pay: $2,332.80/week
Completion Bonus: $2,500 per contract (up to $7,500 after three contracts)
Position Overview
ATC Healthcare is seeking an experienced Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week travel assignment in Auburn, California. This ER handles a broad range of patient populations-from neonates to geriatrics-with a 14-bed department and an average daily census of 90 patients.
This role requires strong emergency nursing skills, including cardiac rhythm interpretation, trauma response, respiratory support, and care of complex medical and behavioral health patients. Epic experience is preferred.
Travelers must meet strict compliance requirements, complete lab work within 3-5 days of signing, and may only request one holiday off during the contract period.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality emergency nursing care to neonate, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.
- Perform rapid triage, initial assessments, and ongoing monitoring of high-acuity patients.
- Recognize and manage dysrhythmias, administer vasoactive medications, and respond to cardiac and respiratory emergencies.
- Start and maintain IVs, obtain 12-lead ECGs, perform phlebotomy, and manage central lines.
- Administer blood products, emergency medications, continuous sedation, and support ventilated patients.
- Provide care for trauma, sepsis, stroke, behavioral emergencies, overdoses, burns, and multi-system organ dysfunction.
- Perform procedural sedation monitoring, assist with intubation, manage CPAP/BiPAP, and interpret ABGs.
- Apply splints, manage restraints, and follow safety protocols for violent or behavioral health patients.
- Maintain accurate documentation in Epic (preferred).
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including radiology, respiratory therapy, social services, pharmacy, and rapid response.
- Uphold infection control, isolation precautions, and emergency department protocols.
- Complete required onboarding modules (1-5 hours).
Qualifications
- Active California RN license (required).
- Minimum 2 years of recent ER experience (required).
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS (all AHA or Red Cross; must be in hand at submission).
- Strong experience with dysrhythmia interpretation, ventilated patients, procedural sedation, and high-acuity emergency care.
- Experience with Epic preferred.
- Must meet 50-mile travel requirement (locals accepted at local rate).
- Only one holiday RTO allowed; must be included at submission.
- Must complete lab work within 3-5 days of signing the contract.
- Two professional references from the last year required.
- Background disclosure required prior to submission (any DUIs or hits must be noted).
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination and recent tuberculosis test required.
