Job Summary:
Provides specialized nursing care for patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Assists physicians during procedures, monitors patient condition before, during, and after sedation, provides post-procedure recovery care and discharge education, interprets diagnostic findings, maintains procedural equipment, and ensures compliance with infection control and patient safety standards.
Job Requirements
Education and Work Experience:
High School Diploma/GED or equivalent: Required
Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN): Required
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN): Preferred
One year of specialty procedural nursing experience (e.g., GI, Endoscopy, Bronchoscopy, or procedural services): Required
Licenses/Certifications:
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice: Required
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification: Required
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification: Required
Essential Functions
Provides nursing care before, during, and after diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
Assists physicians and advanced practice providers during procedures to ensure safe and effective patient care.
Monitors patients receiving procedural sedation and recognizes changes in physiological and psychological status.
Performs post-procedure recovery assessments and provides discharge instructions and patient education.
Reviews medical history, assessment findings, laboratory results, diagnostic imaging, and other clinical data to support patient care.
Recognizes and responds appropriately to cardiac, respiratory, or other medical emergencies.
Interprets cardiac monitoring and other diagnostic findings relevant to patient care.
Prepares, operates, cleans, and maintains procedural equipment and supplies.
Follows infection prevention, patient safety, and procedural protocols, including time-out procedures and quality assurance checks.
Develops and implements individualized nursing care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
Documents assessments, interventions, patient responses, and clinical findings accurately and timely.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
