Department : Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Department

Schedule: 3 x 12-hour shifts (36 hours per week)
We are seeking an experienced Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) for a 13-week travel assignment in Moreno Valley, CA. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Level I Trauma and acute care settings, demonstrate excellent clinical judgment, and provide high-quality, patient-centered emergency nursing care.
Perform comprehensive patient assessments upon admission, considering physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs.
Reassess patients at least every shift and whenever their condition changes using the nursing process.
Develop, implement, review, and update individualized patient care plans.
Administer medications safely following the Seven Rights of Medication Administration.
Monitor and document patient responses, medication effectiveness, and adverse reactions.
Perform treatments and procedures in accordance with hospital policies, sterile technique, infection control standards, and patient privacy requirements.
Document assessments, interventions, patient outcomes, pain management, discharge planning, patient education, and progress toward goals accurately and timely.
Educate patients and families using approved educational resources (including Krames where appropriate).
Interpret diagnostic results and initiate appropriate nursing interventions.
Communicate changes in patient condition promptly to physicians and the interdisciplinary team.
Utilize SBAR communication for all patient handoffs.
Participate in multidisciplinary care planning.
Perform advanced patient assessments and prioritize care in a fast-paced Emergency Department.
Provide care for patients across the lifespan, including pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations.
Respond effectively to minor illnesses, traumatic injuries, and life-threatening emergencies.
Understand Emergency Department patient flow, including Rapid Medical Evaluation (RME).
Perform all nursing activities related to admissions and discharges.
Safely administer high-risk medications according to hospital and Emergency Department policies.
Complete the Emergency Department skills checklist before the first scheduled shift.
Follow the Emergency Department chain of command and understand the physician residency teaching model.
Protect patient rights, confidentiality, and patient participation in care planning.
Follow National Patient Safety Goals and two-patient identifier protocols.
Adhere to infection prevention standards, including hand hygiene.
Demonstrate knowledge of:
Blood transfusion policies and documentation
Restraint application and management
Core Measures and vaccine protocols
Disaster preparedness and emergency response
Rapid Response Team activation
Life Safety Standards, including Code Blue, Code Red, Code Pink, Hazardous Materials (HazMat), and oxygen shut-off procedures
Active California RN License
Current BLS Certification
Current ACLS Certification
Current PALS Certification
Current CPI Certification
NIHSS Certification
TNCC or ATCN Certification
Minimum 4 years of Emergency Department experience
Minimum 2 years of travel nursing experience
Recent acute care Emergency Department experience
Level I Trauma experience required
Experience in hospitals with a minimum of 40 beds
Some pediatric Emergency Department experience
Epic EMR experience strongly preferred
Travel candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility.
Maximum Requested Time Off (RTO): 8 days.
Schedule: 36 hours per week (3 shifts/week, 12-hour Day shifts).
Strong critical thinking, communication, and emergency nursing skills are essential.
