The sexual assault nurse examiner (SANE) exam may include a medical-forensic exam, evidence collection, prophylaxis for pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections, photographic documentation, and referrals for appropriate medical and psychological follow-up, and may support and participate in legal proceedings. The non-fatal strangulation (NFS) exam may include a medical-forensic exam with evidence collection, photographic documentation, referrals as stated above, and participation in subsequent legal proceedings. The FNE may perform other forensic evaluations and collect evidence as needed.Essential Job Functions* Perform a complete medical forensic examination to include completed head to toe medical assessment for trauma, detailed genital/anal examination; Forensic specimen collection and supportive documentation; Photo documentation of bodily and genital/anal injuries with competent documentation.
