Floating Requirements Any of the following: ED Holding (board patients waiting for an inpatient bed) 1:3-4, Other ICU's (MRICU, SICU, CICU, CVICU), Medical surgical unit (Ratio-1:3) , Sitter, PACU Surge 1:3-4

 

ICU Neuro RN

Shift: 12-hour Days (7:00 AM–7:00 PM)
Schedule: 36 hours/week
Shift Options: Day or Night shifts available (7:00 AM–7:00 PM / 7:00 PM–7:00 AM)
Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend
Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday
On Call: No

Requirements:

  • Minimum 4 years of ICU/critical care RN experience required.
  • First-time travelers accepted.
  • BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required.
  • EPIC experience required.

Unit Experience:

  • Neuro ICU experience preferred.
  • Experience caring for neurocritical patients including:
    • Ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes
    • Post-thrombectomy and post-TNK patients
    • Seizures
    • Spinal surgeries
    • Brain mass resections/biopsies
    • Other complex neurocritical diagnoses

Required Skills:

  • Ventilator management
  • Trach care
  • Arterial lines
  • Vasopressor and sedation management
  • Central line blood draws
  • Preferred: CVVH/CRRT and EVD experience

Patient Ratios:

  • 1:1–2 for high acuity patients
  • Up to 1:3 for mixed acuity assignments

Floating Requirements:
May float to areas caring for similar patient populations, including:

  • ED holding
  • Other ICU settings
  • Medical/Surgical units
  • Sitter assignments
  • PACU surge support

Orientation:

  • New employee orientation
  • 1 shift of unit orientation

Additional Information:

  • Strong teamwork environment with focus on evidence-based nursing practice.
  • Solid color scrubs required (no graphics, logos, or designs).
  • Must follow fatigue guidelines; no more than 60 hours/week or five consecutive 12-hour shifts.
