We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable ICU Registered Nurse for a 13-week travel assignment in Monroe, North Carolina. This 174-bed facility features a specialized Stroke Center and a collaborative 14-bed ICU. This is an excellent opportunity for both seasoned travelers and first-time travel nurses looking to expand their clinical horizons in a supportive environment.
Manageable Ratios: 1:2 to 1:3 depending on unit staffing.
Excellent Night Support: Features in-room cameras for remote triage RN support, 24/7 RT and Hospitalists, night anesthesia for line placement, and a dedicated virtual Critical Care physician network.
First-Time Travelers Welcome: A welcoming team culture that gladly accepts onboarding travelers.
Time-Off Friendly: Up to 7 days of Requested Time Off (RTO) can be approved upfront.
You will provide high-quality care to an adult-only medical ICU population. Common diagnoses include Sepsis, DKA, Strokes, CIWA, respiratory/kidney/liver failure, GI bleeds, CHF, and COPD.
Maintain and manage vented patients, trachs, chest tubes, and critical drips.
Manage central lines, art lines, drains, and wound vacs.
Interpret cardiac rhythms, initiate PIVs, and insert/maintain NG tubes.
Actively draw unit labs (phlebotomy available 24/7 for assistance).
Seamlessly utilize EPIC EMR for all charting and documentation.

IV Pumps: Alaris
Medication Dispensing: Omnicell
Patient Monitors: Phillips
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of dedicated ICU experience.
Licensure: Active North Carolina or Compact RN License.
Certifications: Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS.
Technology: Prior hands-on experience with EPIC EMR is required.
Radius Rule: Permanent address must be more than 50 miles from the facility (600 Hospital Drive, Monroe, NC 28112).
Schedule Cycle: Balanced 6-week schedules managed by the unit supervisor.
Weekend Rotation: 6 weekend shifts required per 6-week block (Friday, Saturday, or Sunday).
Holidays: Expectation to cover 50% of holidays falling within the contract period.
On-Call: None!
Floating: Part of the standard rotation with permanent staff. May float to care for ICU or PCU level patients in other areas (MedSurg floating is highly atypical but within the realm of possibility).
Comprehensive facility Nurse Orientation (NEO).
2 specialized clinical shifts on the unit to orient directly to the night shift.
