ICU Registered Nurse – Critical Care (2nd Floor)

  • 14-bed Intensive Care Unit
  • Average census varies daily
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
  • First-time travelers accepted

Cardiac

  • CHF

  • Post-Cardiac Catheterization Patients
    • Radial Approach
    • Femoral Approach

Trauma

  • Gunshot Wounds (GSW)
  • Stabbings

Surgical

  • GYN Procedures
  • GI Cases (SBO)
  • GU Cases

Neuro

  • Subdural Hematoma (SDH)
  • Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)

Note: No cardiovascular surgical patients.


Patient Ratios

  • Typical ratio: 1:1–1:3

If assigned more than two patients:

  • Team nursing model with an experienced MedSurg RN
  • ICU patients requiring monitoring but lower acuity
  • Long-term ventilated patients where:
    • ICU RN manages ventilator care
    • MedSurg RN manages other patient care needs

Day 1

  • Clinical Education onboarding

  • 12-hour shift on the unit with a preceptor

Scheduling Information

Shift

  • 12-Hour Day Shift
  • 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM

Weekend Requirement

  • Every Other Weekend

Holiday Requirement

  • One Holiday per Contract

Schedule Cycle

  • Created in 6-week increments

Time-Off Requests

  • Up to 7 days may be approved

Floating Requirements

  • Travelers float first
  • May float anywhere in the hospital within scope of practice

MedSurg/Telemetry or ED Boarding Assignments

  • Maximum patient ratio: 1:4
  • Assignments limited to MedSurg-level patients

On-Call Requirements

  • None
