Unit Information:

o Beds: 27

Census? Average patients/day? 25

o Minimum Years of Experience required? 4 years

o Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes

Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:

o Neurological:

Ischemic (post TNK, thrombectomies), hemorrhagic strokes (SAH, IPH, IVH, SDH), seizures, spinal surgeries, brain mass resections/biopsies, etc. Anything that falls under neurocritical can be handled here

All significant neuro-intensive care patients assigned to core staff

o Non-Neuro ICU:

Medical respiratory overflow, general medical ICU overflow

Patient Ratios:

o 1:1-2, 1:3 for mixed acuity status

Required License, National Certification, Certs:

o BLS, ACLS, NIHSS

Skills required:

o Vents, trachs, art lines, vasopressor and sedation management, central line blood draws

o EPIC experience required

o Preferred: CVVH/CRRT, EVD

Support within the Department:

o CNA with 1:8-10

o Charge RN rarely takes a patient assignment

o Critical Care NP: 2 on Days

o Intensivist 24/7 (2 on Days, 1 on Nights)

o Hospitalist 24/7

o RT 24/7

o Phlebotomy to assist with peripheral blood draws

o Telemetry at bedside and central monitor at nurse's station

Technology/Equipment:

o EMR: EPIC - required

o IV Pump: Alaris

o Med dispensing: Pyxis

o Monitors: Client

o Unit specific equipment: Healthcare EVDs

Floating: If yes, where?

o ED Holding (board patients waiting for an inpatient bed) 1:3-4
