Location: San Luis Obispo, CA

Assignment Length: 13 Weeks (with option to extend)

Shift: Night Shift 3 x 12s or 4 x 12s; rotating shifts (no blocked schedules), 1900-0730; Need TNCC, ACLS, BLS, NIHSS; Medical ICU/Trauma ICU, Neuro ICU. Call is rare. (2nd 12h)

We are seeking a Travel RN II-ICU-CVICU to join a healthcare team for a travel assignment in San Luis Obispo, CA. This opportunity allows you to work in a collaborative clinical environment while delivering high-quality patient care.

·        Our 162-bed acute care facility includes a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and county designated trauma center

·        Job Summary: Responsible for the planning, coordination, and provision of nursing care to patients on the critical care setting

·        Supervises and delegates care responsibilities to ancillary personnel commensurate with their scope of practice

·        Responsible for critical care nursing knowledge and skills applicable to but not limited to the care of patients with multi system failure requiring ventilation, neuro / trauma, respiratory failure, and hemodynamic monitoring

·        Job Requirements: Education and Work Experience:  High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required  Associate Degree(A.A

·        or A.S.): Required  Bachelor's Degree in Nursing: Preferred  Passing completion of a Critical Care Nursing course: Required  Six months previous critical care experience: Preferred Licenses/Certifications:  Current RN license in state of practice: Required  Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification: Required  ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support): Required  Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC): Required within 1 year of hire or transfer into the department.(Current employees as of 06.30.2021 have 2 years to complete)  Registered Nurse (RN) license in state of practice: Required  Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Healthstream Advanced Cardiac Life Support (HS-ACLS) or RQIACLS: Required Essential Functions: Provides appropriate nursing interventions in stable and emergent patient situations

·        Is competent in all routine nursing skills including: (1) medication administration, (2) intravenous therapy including blood products, (3) care & maintenance of indwelling catheters & drains and, (4) safe use of any medical equipment used in the critical care setting, (5) Understands and follows chain of command per policy

·        Accurately interprets ECG rhythm and manages care of patients during life threatening emergencies in populations served

·        Verifies alarm settings with Monitor Technician according to policy

·        Demonstrates knowledge of lead functions and application, able to make recommendations for best monitoring based on patient presentation

·        Demonstrates knowledge/skill regarding the care and management of patients requiring ICP and ventriculostomy monitoring

·        Is proficient in assessment and intervention in changes in neurological symptoms

·        Demonstrates knowledge/skill regarding the care and management of patients requiring Pulmonary Artery Monitoring Catheters and patients requiring Arterial Pressure Monitoring Catheters

·        Demonstrates knowledge/skill regarding the care and management of patients requiring mechanical ventilation and other ventilatory support devises I.e

·        C-pap mask; Nasal bi-pap mask; High Flow O2 mask

·        Demonstrates knowledge regarding the principles of multisystem alteration and its impact on physiological functions, developmental tasks and alteration in mental processing of the adult and elder population

·        Initiates a multidisciplinary, goal oriented care plan for each patient in collaboration with members of the health care teamand provides care based on that plan

·        Educates patients and/or their families regarding care

·        Uses teaching methods appropriate to the age, condition, culture, and assessed learning-readiness of the patient

·        Completes legible, accurate and timely documentation of all nursing care provided, including evaluation of patient's response to medications, treatments & procedures

·        Consistently performs necessary unit specific safety & quality control checks (i.e

·        Shift and 24hr MD order checks, VO/TO Read Back, crash cart checks, urine QC, refrig logs & outdate checks)

·        Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education

·        Graduate of an accredited healthcare program related to the specialty

Licensure & Certifications

·        Active professional license in the state of practice

·        Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Experience

·        Minimum 1–2 years of recent experience in the specialty
