Job Summary: Provides nursing care to surgical patients in the immediate preoperative and postoperative period. Receives report from anesthesiologist, surgeon and/or circulating RN regarding surgical intervention and incorporates this into nursing plan of care. Assures control of pain, bleeding and nausea, proper positioning, management of airway, and stablilization of vital signs. Responds immediately to emergency situations. This position is represented by CNA. Job Requirements: Education and Work Experience: Associate Degree(A.S.) or equivalent: Required Bachelor's Degree in Nursing: Preferred One year PACU or critical care experience: Required Licenses/Certifications: Current RN license in state of practice: Required Basic Life Support (BLS)?certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required Advanced Cardiovascular?Life Support (ACLS)?certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)?certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC): Required within 1 year of hire or transfer into the department.(Current employees as of 06.30.2021 have 2 years to complete) Registered Nurse (RN) license in state of practice: Required Facility Specific License/Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required AHA-ACLS or ARC-ALS: Required AHA-PALS or ARC-PALS: Required Essential Functions: Is competent to perform physical assessment of patients post anesthesia - general, spinal, regional, or IV sedation. Is competent to manage the airway of a patient following anesthesia. Recognizes the symptoms of cardiac or respiratory distress and other impending emergencies 100% of the time. Provides appropriate nursing interventions in stable and emergent patient situations. Is competent in all routine nursing skills including: (1) medication administration, (2) intravenous therapy including blood products, (3) care & maintenance of indwelling catheters & drains and, (4) safe use of any medical equipment used in the critical care setting, (5) Understands and follows chain of command per policy. Is competent to monitor hemodynamic status of post-surgical patients. Accurately interprets ECG rhythm and manages care of patients during life threatening emergencies in populations served. Requirements:
