JOB TITLE: RN-Women’s Health & Newborn Care-Labor & Delivery (L&D)/Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) JOB CODE: 5545 / 5540 JOB HOURS: Various Shifts, Call as Assigned STANDARDS OF BEHAVIOR: It is expected that all of the duties and responsibilities of this position will be performed in a manner that reflects the Four Key Values of Bothwell Regional Health Center, which are: Community, Purpose, Integrity, and Joy. JOB SUMMARY: The RN –L&D/NICU, provides routine to high-acuity obstetric, intrapartum, operative, and neonatal care, requiring advanced clinical competencies, rapid clinical judgment, and specialty certifications. This role functions with a higher level of autonomy and responsibility due to increased patient acuity, regulatory oversight, and safety risk. The RN reports to the team lead/Charge Nurse, Manager, and Director, following the established chain of command. QUALIFICATIONS:

a) Successful completion of hospital and department orientation. L&D / NICU Eligibility Criteria: 1. To be eligible for assignment to Labor & Delivery and/or NICU, staff must meet at least one of the following criteria and complete all required onboarding steps: Standard Eligibility Pathways: 1. A minimum of twelve (12) months of mother/baby experiencepost-orientation, OR 2. A minimum of twelve (12) months of Labor & Delivery and/or NICU experiencepost-orientation Special Circumstances (Exception Pathway): 1. Exceptions to the above experience requirements may be granted only under special circumstances and must receive prior approval from the Director of Women’s Health & Newborn Care 2. RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DUTIES: Clinical Care: 1. Labor management, inductions, augmentation, and obstetric triage 2. Delivery attendance and immediate newborn stabilization 3. Operating Room (OR) circulation and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) recovery for Cesarean sections 4. NICU care as applicable (Level II) 5. Routine newborn care within first hours of life and/or stabilization for transfer to higher level facility, admission to BRHC NICU, or to Women’s health & newborn Care (WHNC) for routine care 6. Obstetric (OB) emergency response (hemorrhage, shoulder dystocia, eclampsia, hypertensive crisis)-OB Alert 7. Pain management including epidural and post-operative care 8. Fetal heart rate and contraction monitoring per AWHONN standards 9.Initiation of intrauterine resuscitation and escalation per protocol 10.Perform other duties as assigned Regulatory, Safety and Unit-Based Accountability: 1. a.) Position may include or require working every other weekend and additional shifts as needed based on census, vacations, or staffing vacancies to ensure safe patient care and staff safety. Preferred scheduling is utilized when possible; however, schedules are not guaranteed and are aligned with patient care and staffing needs. REQUIRED STAFF COMPETENCIES:
