Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery
Job Summary
Provides nursing care to laboring patients and their newborns throughout the antepartum, intrapartum, and immediate postpartum periods. Monitors maternal and fetal well-being, assists with vaginal and cesarean deliveries, and supports patients through labor and delivery.
Education & Experience
• Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (Required)
• Minimum 1-2 years of labor and delivery or obstetric nursing experience (Preferred)
Licenses & Certifications
• Current RN license in state of practice (Required)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (Required)
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification (Required)
• Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification (Preferred)
• Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO) certification (Preferred)
Key Responsibilities
• Monitors maternal vital signs and fetal heart rate patterns throughout labor.
• Administers medications, including oxytocin and pain management, per physician orders.
• Assists with vaginal deliveries and provides support during cesarean sections.
• Provides immediate newborn assessment and care following delivery.
• Educates patients and families on labor progress, pain management, and postpartum recovery.
• Recognizes and responds to obstetric emergencies such as hemorrhage or fetal distress.
