Responsibilities


In keeping with the Marian Regional Medical Center health care philosophy, the Registered Nurse manages quality patient care through the nursing process. The nurse also coordinates the plan of care with the healthcare team. The Registered Nurse assumes a leadership role for the unit’s personnel, preparing them and assisting them with their responsibilities. Employees are responsible for completing unit competency assessments, annual safety reviews, CPR, NRP, and license renewal by maintaining continuing education units as required by hospital policy. Employees must successfully pass the clinical math exam before their unit orientation. In addition to these major responsibilities, the Registered Nurse may be assigned other duties.


The RN L&D role requires the candidate to be able to work within a team model of patient-care delivery. They must possess proficient basic nursing skills and specialty skills, as well as an understanding of the nursing process and the ability to apply those principles appropriately. Additionally, the candidate must have a caring and compassionate attitude, be able to organize and prioritize work efficiently, and have clear and effective written and oral English skills. They must also have objective active-listening skills. The candidate will also need to be able to actively participate in process improvement activities and be able to work with others across all departments.

Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications:


+ Registered Nurse Graduate with 6 months to one (1) year of work experience.

+ Current California Registered Nurse license or interim permit.

+ Current approved health care provider CPR certification - BLS within 30 days of hire date.

+ Current PALS within 30 days of hire date.

+ NRP Certification within 30 days of hire date.

+ Basic Fetal Monitoring Certificate presented upon hire; or for new graduates achieved within the Orientation Process.

+ Completion of an Advanced Fetal Monitoring Course within 2 years of employment. This certificate must be maintained.
