This is a full-time RN Manager, Labor & Delivery opportunity in Portsmouth, NH. The hospital is a 240-bed acute care facility serving communities across New Hampshire, Maine, and Massachusetts, and is the only hospital in the area recognized as an ACS Verified Level II Trauma Center and a Comprehensive Stroke Center.

The role. Reporting to the Family Care Services Market Director, this manager oversees an 18-bed Labor and Delivery unit comprising five labor rooms, seven postpartum rooms, one triage/antepartum room, three pediatric rooms, two surgical beds, a four-to-six-bed Level II nursery, and one OB operating room, with a team of 27.1 FTEs including RNs, an OB nurse navigator, lactation consultants, unit coordinators, and support staff. Day-to-day responsibilities include managing scheduling, employee and patient rounding, and patient satisfaction initiatives, while collaborating with the Perinatal Safety Nurse on competency development for clinical staff. The manager leads all aspects of personnel management — from interviewing and hiring through performance evaluations, learning plans, and disciplinary processes — and provides leadership in compliance with regulatory, national nursing, and specialty nursing standards. Additional responsibilities include evaluating patient outcomes, maintaining quality audits, monitoring daily core measures, and assisting with unit budget oversight.

What we're looking for.

  • 3–7 years Labor and Delivery experience in an acute care setting — Required
  • 3–7 years L&D Leadership experience in an acute care setting — Required
  • 4-year Bachelor's Degree — Preferred
  • NH RN License or valid compact state RN License — Required

Schedule. Full-time, days with rotating weekends.

Compensation. $100,000 - $148,000 per year
