Responsibilities
Lead and manage Labor & Delivery unit operations on-site, ensuring patient safety and timely care.
Provide expert nursing care for obstetric patients and newborns, in accordance with standards.
Oversee staffing, scheduling, and delegation to maintain adequate coverage per shift.
Develop and monitor quality metrics, pass rates, and patient outcomes to drive improvements.
Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, safety protocols, and hospital policies.
Collaborate with physicians and support staff to coordinate complex cases and transfers.
Mentor and coach nurses, promoting professional development and advancement opportunities.
Manage patient flow and throughput using pipelines and dashboards to optimize outcomes.
Lead infection prevention initiatives and maintain a safe, clean clinical environment.
Handle performance appraisals, feedback, and recognition to reinforce merit-based growth.
Participate in budget management and supply chain decisions for the unit.
Experience/Qualifications
Registered Nurse with California RN license and L&D specialty certification.
Strong clinical expertise in obstetric and neonatal care, with evidence of patient-safety outcomes.
Minimum 5 years L&D nursing experience with 2+ years in leadership roles.
Proven ability to manage staffing, scheduling, and delegation for 24/7 shifts.
Experience in quality improvement, data dashboards, and patient throughput optimization.
Knowledge of regulatory standards (CMS, JCAHO, HIPAA) and hospital policies.
Infection prevention leadership and safe-patient environment maintenance.
Budget management, supply chain decisions, and cost-control for the unit.
Mentorship and professional development coaching for nursing staff.
Excellent collaboration and communication with physicians, support staff, and transfers.
