Job Title:RN Med Surg
Location: Jackson, MI (On Site)
Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift Hours: 7:00 AM 7:00 PM .

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum 2 years of recent general Medical-Surgical (Med Surg) nursing experience.
• Current Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) License.
• BLS Certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Must be willing to float to units with equal or lower acuity as requested

Preferred Skills & Experience

• At least 1 year of experience working on a Surgical Floor.

Job Description

• Provide compassionate, high-quality patient care using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Coordinate and deliver safe, effective nursing care for Medical-Surgical patients.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
• Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and hospital policies.
• Monitor patient conditions, recognize changes, and respond appropriately.
• Document all patient assessments, interventions, outcomes, and education accurately in the medical record.
• Supervise, delegate, and coordinate care provided by support staff.
• Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, treatments, discharge planning, and health maintenance.
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Communicate pertinent patient information during shift reports and care transitions.
• Identify variances from patient goals, participate in problem-solving, and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies, patient safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and support evidence-based nursing practices.
• Strong clinical knowledge and analytical skills to develop and implement effective nursing care plans.
• Ability to provide comprehensive professional nursing care in an acute care setting.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with patients, families, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
• Ability to adapt to changing patient acuity and floating assignments.
• Float to units with equal or lower acuity, including the lockdown unit, as required based on staffing needs.
