Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Med/Surg Registered Nurse to provide direct bedside nursing care to pre- and post-surgical patients while managing medications, IV therapy, wound care, telemetry monitoring, and patient education.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg experience in a large acute-care hospital; most recent experience within the past year
• Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution
• Current New York State RN License with Primary Source Verification
• AHA BLS certification
• Physical assessment skills
• Medication administration experience
• Wound care and infection-control experience
• IV therapy experience
• Post-operative care experience
• Patient education skills
• Telemetry monitoring experience
• English proficiency – read, write, and speak

Preferred Qualifications

• EPIC EMR experience
• AHA ACLS certification for Queens positions

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans
• Provide individualized bedside nursing care to pre- and post-surgery patients
• Prepare, administer, and document prescribed medications
• Change dressings, insert catheters, and initiate IVs
• Operate and monitor specialized medical equipment
• Monitor vital signs and report adverse reactions
• Collaborate with the healthcare team on discharge planning
• Educate patients and families regarding procedures and post-surgical care
• Maintain accurate patient files, charts, and health records
• Follow nursing standards, best practices, and protocols
