RN Medical/Surgical – Float Pool | Warwick, RI | 3-Month Contract | Onsite | Night Shift | (2 Positions)

Join a Float Pool as an RN Medical/Surgical nursing professional in a dynamic healthcare environment. This 3-month contract position offers night shift hours across medical and surgical units. Bring 5+ years of nursing experience with critical care background preferred. Float pool flexibility provides variety and exposure to multiple clinical areas.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

• Title: RN Medical/Surgical (Float Pool)

• Type: Contract 

• Duration: 3 months (May 25, 2026 – August 25, 2026)

• Hours: 36 hours per week

• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 PM–7:30 AM EST

• Work Type: Onsite

• Reporting Location: Warwick, RI (455 Tollgate Road)

• Department: Float Pool (Medical/Surgical Units)

COMPENSATION:

• Marketplace Pay Rate: $68.79/hour

SHIFT DETAILS:

• Primary Shift: 7:00 PM–7:30 AM, Monday–Friday

• Night shift (3 shifts per week / 12-hour shifts)

• Float pool assignment across medical and surgical units

• Variety of clinical settings and patient populations

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

PATIENT CARE & ASSESSMENT:

• Implement and monitor individualized patient care plans

• Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate

• Assess patient needs and provide comprehensive nursing care

• Respond to acute and changing patient situations

• Provide compassionate care to patients and families

CARE COORDINATION:

• Serve as primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care

• Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and support staff across units

• Ensure seamless communication between all care team members

• Facilitate interdisciplinary approaches to patient management

• Coordinate specialty services and consultations as needed

CLINICAL EXECUTION:

• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders

• Administer medications and treatments as ordered

• Perform clinical procedures and interventions

• Monitor vital signs and patient response to treatments

• Document accurate and timely patient information in medical records

• Maintain clinical accuracy and attention to detail

DISCHARGE PLANNING & COORDINATION:

• Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs

• Communicate with members of the healthcare team regarding discharge requirements

• Provide discharge education and instructions to patients and families

• Ensure appropriate follow-up care arrangements

• Support transition to inpatient, outpatient, or home-based care

FLOAT POOL OPERATIONS:

• Adapt quickly to different unit environments and workflows

• Learn diverse patient populations and care protocols

• Support unit-specific requirements and procedures

• Maintain flexibility and positive attitude across assignments

• Communicate effectively with different clinical teams

REQUIREMENTS:

EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum 5 years of nursing experience required

• Medical/surgical nursing background required

• Critical care experience preferred (ICU, cardiac, trauma, etc.)

• Float pool or multi-unit nursing experience preferred

• Contract/traveler nursing experience a plus

• Healthcare environment experience

CERTIFICATIONS & CREDENTIALS:

• Active Rhode Island RN licensure (required)

• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (required)

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification preferred

• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification preferred

• Current CPR certification

TECHNICAL & SYSTEM SKILLS:

• EHR and nursing documentation systems expertise

• Ability to use hospital equipment and technology

• Strong clinical technology skills

• Proficiency with medical/surgical equipment operation

LANGUAGE & COMMUNICATION:

• English proficiency required

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to communicate clearly in complex situations
