Description
Job Overview: The Medical/Surgical RN provides comprehensive care to patients who are recovering from surgical procedures or managing complex medical conditions. This role requires a high level of expertise in medical-surgical nursing practices, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with a healthcare team.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care plans in consultation with healthcare professionals.
Administering medications and treatments as prescribed.
Monitoring vital signs and symptoms, and reporting any significant changes to the physician.
Operating and tracking medical equipment.
Running and ordering tests as required and interpreting results.
Coordinating care with physicians and specialists.
Charting patient progress and maintaining accurate health records.
Educating patients and their families on surgical procedures and post-surgery care.
Adhering to best nursing practices, standards, and protocols.
Qualifications:
Current RN license in the state of practice.
BLS/ACLS certification.
Proven experience as a Medical-Surgical Nurse.
Strong knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures.
In-depth knowledge of health and safety guidelines and procedures (sanitation, decontamination, etc.) and willingness to follow them at all times.
A team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Responsible and compassionate.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical-surgical setting.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, such as lifting and moving patients.
Work Environment:
Fast-paced medical/surgical unit within a hospital or healthcare facility.
