RN - MedSurg/Tele - Contract

Title: RN- MedSurg/Tele

Location: Winston-Salem North Carolina 

Duration: 13 Weeks

Shift: 12hr Night Shift - 36

Shift Information: 12 hour shifts, 3 nights/week.. 1830-0700

Clinical Interviewing- Yes

On Call, Call Back Requirements: No Call

Weekend Rotation: Every Other

Holiday Requirements: Travelers will work 75% of holidays

Floating Requirements: Yes, to other med/surg units

• 885 licensed beds
• Level 1 Trauma Designation
• Teaching Hospital: Yes, Academic Medical Center
• Chest Pain Center
• Stroke Center

Unit Information: Beds: 29

Minimum Years of Experience required: 2 years MST

Will you accept a first-time traveler: Yes, dependent on experience. Must have a strong background in MST

Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: General Medicine - DM, GI, Resp, Renal, Wounds/Dressing Changes, chest tubes, trachs, lab draws required

Patient Ratios:

• RN: 1:5-6
• CNA: 1:9-10

Required Licensure & Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (Resource Team requirement)

Skills required:

• Ability to provide direct and indirect patient care, strong interpersonal communication skills, ability to work collaboratively, solid written and oral communication skills, ability to tolerate moderate to high stress levels, and experience reading telemetry strips
• Chest tubes, traches, PIV starts, drain & tubes, PCA pumps
• Gtts management – Amiodarone (occasionally), Fentanyl PCA, Ketamine PCA, Dilaudid PCA, Heparin

Support within the Department:

• CNA: Provides basic nursing care to assigned patients and assist RN where needed
• Receptionist/HUC
• Charge nurse
• Phlebotomy – shared responsibility with RN
• IV/VAT Team: No
• Rapid Response Team
• RT 24/7
• Hospitalist 24/7
• Intensivist 24/7
• Telemetry monitoring/tech: Centralized Telemetry

Technology/Equipment:

• EMR: Epic
• IV Pump: Alaris
• Med dispensing: Omnicell

Floating: If yes, where: Yes, to other MedSurg units

Orientation (facility and unit):

• NEO
• 2 days departmental

Scheduling:

• Weekend rotation: every other
• No call
• Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays
• RTO: Manager approval
• Shift times: 0630-1900 or 1830-0630
• Schedule cycle: 6 weeks schedule
