On Call, Call Back Requirements Possibility of low census call.
Can be called back up to 3a for Nights and up to 3p for Days
Weekend Rotation EOW
Holiday Requirements Travelers will work 75% of holidays Floating Requirements Region 3 - Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division (CMC Main + Mercy + LCH)

Unit Details

  • Unit: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry
  • Beds: 24
  • Average Daily Census: 24
  • Fast-paced observation unit caring for patients with a variety of cardiac, respiratory, neurological, and medical-surgical diagnoses

Requirements

Experience

  • Minimum 18 months of recent MedSurg/Telemetry RN experience
  • First-time travelers accepted
  • Minimum 6 months of EPIC experience required

Certifications

  • Active RN License
  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • NIHSS

Required Skills

  • Cardiac rhythm interpretation
  • Experience with non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem, Amiodarone)
  • Medical-surgical nursing skills
  • IV starts
  • Blood product administration
  • Wound care and dressing changes
  • Care of patients with drains, tubes, and other medical devices

Staffing & Support

Nurse-to-Patient Ratios

  • RN: 1:5–6 (Days/Nights)
  • Surge staffing may increase ratios to 1:7–8
  • CNA: 1:12

Unit Support

  • Charge Nurse (may carry an assignment)
  • CNAs
  • Phlebotomy Team
  • IV/VAT Team
  • Respiratory Therapy available 24/7
  • Hospitalist coverage on-site during days; virtual coverage nights
  • Intensivist available 24/7
  • Remote telemetry monitoring with Tele Tech support

Equipment & Technology

  • EMR: EPIC
  • IV Pumps: Alaris
  • Medication Dispensing: Omnicell
  • Patient Monitors: Masimo (all rooms)

Schedule

  • Shift: 12-Hour Nights
  • Hours: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
  • Weekend Requirement: Every Other Weekend (EOW)
  • Schedule Posted Every 6 Weeks

Call & Holiday Requirements

  • Possible low census call
  • May be called back up to 3:00 AM (night shift)
  • Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays

Time Off

  • Up to 6 days RTO may be approved (excluding holidays)
  • Additional time may be added to the contract if contracted hours cannot be met

Floating Requirements

Floating is required within Region 3 and within the RN's scope of practice. Travelers must be willing to float as needed to:

  • Cleveland
  • Kings Mountain
  • Lincoln
  • Central Division (CMC Main, Mercy, LCH)

If floating occurs mid-shift, travelers remain on the clock and are paid for travel time between facilities.

  • New Employee Orientation (NEO)
  • 2 days of departmental/unit orientation
