The Neuroscience Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) provides specialized progressive care for adult patients with complex neurological and neurosurgical conditions who require frequent monitoring and skilled nursing interventions, but do not meet criteria for intensive care.

Function/Duties of Position
This 12-bed unit serves as a critical step between the Neuroscience Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) and the Acute Care setting, supporting early recovery, close neurological observation, and safe transitions along the continuum of care. The IMCU emphasizes patient safety, early mobility, multidisciplinary collaboration, and evidence-based neuroscience nursing within a supportive and professional work environment. This unit utilizes a multidisciplinary team approach to the care we provide to our patients: 40kg weight minimum, age generally not less than 16 years with no upper age limit.

May be required to provide continuing care and monitoring of patients in locations outside of Neuro ICU including MRI, CT, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, and Radiology.

For your first year:
If your hire date was between January 1 - September 30th, please submit 6 CE hours of annual stroke education by the end of this calendar year.
If your hire date is between October 1 - December 31st, please submit your stroke hours during the next calendar year.
Current NIHSS, cannot be allowed to expire
