    Description

    Job Purpose:

    • The RN position is integral to the efficient functioning of the assigned Unit. They will, by virtue of their role, be responsible for providing professional psychiatric nursing care, via their own task functions and supervision of the task of other nursing personnel on their shift. Ensures all members of his/her team provide quality and effective nursing care.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical and mental health status.
    • Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
    • Ability to successfully complete initial and annual Techniques for Effective Aggression Management (TEAM) physical restraint and verbal de-escalation training
    • Provide direct nursing care, including wound care, IV therapy, and other clinical procedures.
    • Monitor and document patient progress, reporting any significant changes to the healthcare team.
    • Educate patients and their families about health conditions, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
    • Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment for patients by adhering to safety protocols and infection control measures.
    • Participate in shift handovers, ensuring continuity of care and effective communication between shifts.
    • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and optimize outcomes.
    • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic health records.
    • Respond promptly to emergency situations, providing appropriate interventions and support.
    • Engage in continuous professional development to stay current with best practices in behavioral health nursing.
