Position Overview
The RN Nurse Educator is responsible for supporting clinical education and staff development across inpatient Maternal Child Health (MCH) departments, including Labor & Delivery (L&D), NICU, Mother-Baby Unit (MBU), and Pediatrics. This role provides education, training, and clinical support to nursing staff while promoting evidence-based practice, patient safety, and high-quality patient care. The ideal candidate will have a strong Labor & Delivery clinical background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to support multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Job Responsibilities
Provide clinical education and training support for inpatient MCH departments including L&D, NICU, MBU, and Pediatrics
Develop and deliver educational programs, competency assessments, and staff development initiatives
Support nursing staff with clinical guidance, best practices, and evidence-based education
Collaborate with leadership and interdisciplinary teams to identify educational needs and implement training solutions
Assist with orientation, onboarding, and ongoing professional development of nursing staff
Maintain compliance with organizational policies, regulatory standards, and patient safety initiatives
Promote continuous quality improvement and clinical excellence across assigned departments
Support educational activities related to labor and delivery, postpartum, and neonatal care
Job Requirements
Active New York State RN License required
Primary Source Verification of License and Registration of Registered Professional Nurse from NYS Department of Education (NYSED) required
AHA BLS certification required
Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN or ADN) from an accredited nursing program required
Minimum two (2) years of Med/Surg nursing experience required
Minimum two (2) years of Labor & Delivery experience required
Strong Labor & Delivery clinical background required
Solid clinical knowledge and experience in maternal child health settings required
Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills required
Ability to provide education and support across multiple inpatient departments
Education
Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN or ADN) from an accredited nursing program required
Masters in Education strongly preferred
Work Experience
Minimum two (2) years of Med/Surg experience required
Minimum two (2) years of Labor & Delivery experience required
Experience supporting education in labor and delivery, NICU, and postpartum settings preferred
