The posted compensation range of $60.65 - $92.23 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Nurse Shift Manager, you'll oversee a department of frontline nurses caring for patients. Your previous experience in acute care, LTC, or nursing homes adds tremendous value to our nursing team.

Every day you will advocate for your fellow nurses as you support them in reaching their full potential, which aligns with your department's operational goals and objectives.

To thrive in this role, you need to be accountable and confident. You're an excellent communicator in 1:1 interactions and in front of groups. It's also important for you to be comfortable holding tough conversations, as you are responsible for the performance of your people and your unit.

  • Supervises nursing staff assigned to a particular shift. Assigns patients to available nursing staff, taking into consideration the patient's condition and the employee's skill level.
  • Assesses, monitors, and educates the nursing staff on patient care. Institutes emergency procedures as necessary.
  • Anticipates staffing needs and moves proactively to respond to them.
  • Oversees stocking of supplies and updating patient records to ensure that the nursing floor is ready for subsequent shifts.

Job Requirements

Required

  • Associates Of Science Nursing and Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience as a registered nurse, upon hire
  • Associate Of Nursing and actively pursuing a Bachelor's Degreein Nursing or other-related field (e.g.,BSN/BBA/BHA). and Minimum of three (3) years of nursingexperience and one (1) year of leadershipexperience., upon hire and
  • Registered Nurse: CA, upon hire and
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support, upon hire and
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support, upon hire and
  • Fire Safety, within 90 Days and
  • Mobile Intensive Care Nurse, upon hire

Preferred

  • Bachelors Of Nursing, upon hire

Founded in 1887, Dignity Health - California Hospital Medical Center is a 318-bed, acute care, nonprofit hospital located in downtown Los Angeles, California. Serving over 100,000 patients annually, the hospital offers a full complement of services including a Level II Trauma Center, Level III NICU, heart care, women's health, and a family birth center. In 2025, we opened our new patient tower, Grand Tower, featuring a dramatically expanded Emergency Department and Family Birth Center that will increase patient comfort and privacy.
