Pay Rate: $66 / hour


Travel Rate:


Based on 36 hours: Hrly $39, Stipend: lodging $672 M&I $413=$1085. Total Comp $2,489 Blended rate: $69.14


RN Details

+ 8 or 12 hour shifts available depending on the facility

+ Contract Position (flexible with shift availability is a plus)

+ Primarily Days 13 week initial duration Supervisory experience required 36 hours/week guaranteed, but candidates must still have open availability for scheduling as needed per the client scheduling policy. Potential 36/48 rotation Billing for OT: OT after 8 hrs/day, DT after 12 hrs/day. US Citizenship required for ICE clearance - expedited clearance in place for new activation - candidates will be subject to thorough background & credit investigation for clearance ICE Clearance is taking 4-6 weeks to obtain. Can start as soon as ICE clearance is received.


Job Summary:

Report directly to the Warden/Facility Administrator or Health Service Administrator for daily clinical operations within the medical department. Manage and supervise daily nursing/clinical activities. Supervise nursing and non-licensed health care providers in the performance of their duties and evaluate as prescribed by the facility and corporate policy. This includes, but is not limited to, training new employees; evaluating performance and preparing written performance appraisals; listening to complaints and effectively resolving disputes or problems; taking corrective or disciplinary action; developing work schedules for subordinates; and approving leave requests. Provide direct patient care as indicated within scope of licensure; apply appropriate nursing skills in the care and treatment of inmates/residents. Provide for adequate staffing at the facility; fill in as needed during periods of short staffing; may perform nursing duties including, but not limited to, executing physician’s orders, assisting physicians in examinations or treatment, dispensing and administering medications, treating emergencies and screening patients for referrals, and performing intakes. Perform triage and physical assessments. Perform and direct emergency care and procedures as needed and call the Licensed Independent Provider for treatment orders.


Job Responsibilities:

-Monitor, as directed, inmate/resident inpatient hospitalizations for early releases whenever appropriate.

-Provide guidance, supervise and monitor nursing care provided by licensed vocational/practical nursing staff and non-licensed medical staff.

-Maintain a good working relationship with facility staff, nursing staff, contract providers and outside provider agencies.

-Utilize established corporate, facility and correctional policies and procedures in making decisions, but use sound independent judgment in meeting the responsibilities and performing the duties of the position.

-Regularly evaluate the provision of medical services to prevent the inappropriate use, or duplication of those services.

-Maintain absolute security and confidentiality of all medical records.

-Assist Health Service Administrator with the review of medical files to determine all provided services are documented.

-Closely monitor all potential catastrophic illnesses.

-Audit pharmacy use for adherence to formulary, as directed or required.

-Comply with all applicable pharmacy laws, especially those covering controlled substances.

-Observe and record inmate/resident behavior.

-Inspect the medical unit for items that could be used as contraband by inmate/residents; securely store or safely dispose of supplies and equipment.

-Provide health counseling and health education on an individual or group basis, as required.

-Assist Health Service Administrator to prepare and maintain a variety of standard narrative, statistical, summary and/or operational records, reports and logs, using appropriate grammar, to include filing, alphabetizing and labeling; properly process all reports and documents in a timely manner.

-Read, analyze, comprehend and interpret medical and technical procedures, governmental regulations, legal and non-legal documents.

-Review, process and respond (via corporate counsel) to lawsuits; attend court hearings, when necessary.

-Facilitate, where applicable, NCCHC/ACA/JCAHO accreditation of the medical program by providing the required level of efficiency and approved, appropriate medical services.

-Prepare and disseminate safety and accident reports as required by policies and procedures; take appropriate action in cases of serious and unusual incidents and emergencies.

Skills:

Required Skills & Experience:

-Must have at least (1) year of clinical supervisory experience.


Preferred Skills & Experience:

-Corrections experience is strongly preferred.

-One (1) year of professional nursing experience.


Education:

Required Education:

-Graduate from an accredited college, university or nursing program with a degree/diploma in nursing.
