Rome Health is currently seeking a Registered Nurse for our PACU/ Ambulatory Surgery departments.

The PACU/AM-Surg Registered Nurse provides pre-operative and post-anesthesia nursing care to patients undergoing surgical and procedural interventions. This role involves assessing, monitoring, educating, and supporting patients throughout the surgical procedure.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform assessments of patients' conditions, needs, and vital signs in preparation for procedures.
  • Prepare patients for procedures, assist during procedures, and ensure a safe and efficient environment.
  • Work closely with physicians, and other healthcare providers to develop and execute patient plans of care.
  • Provide health education and support to patients and their families, addressing their questions and concerns about procedures, aftercare, and recovery.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient assessments, procedures, and follow-up care in compliance

EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing; current Basic Life

Support; BS in Nursing preferred.


LICENSES: Current Registered Nurse License in New York State


EXPERIENCE: 1 to 2 years of work experience in an acute care hospital is desirable. Previous PACU, critical care, emergency room, or perioperative nursing experience preferred.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Combination of walking and standing up to 12 hours per day. Heavy lifting, 45 pounds or more, and the positioning of patients is required. Light carrying less than 15 pounds. Pushing and pulling. Some kneeling is required. Repeated bending. Frequent reaching, some above shoulders, handling, and fingering of instruments and equipment. Talking and hearing for communicating with other personnel and patients; hearing to distinguish differences and variations in vital signs of patients. Near-visual acuity is required to work with a computer, charts, records, and to observe patients to detect changes in patient conditions, to read gauges and dials on equipment. Color vision for perceiving changes in the patient's skin color and the color of medicines and solutions
