Job Summary

  • The RN-Pediatrics provides direct and indirect nursing care for pediatric patients from newborn through adolescence. This role includes comprehensive assessment, care planning, intervention, and evaluation in a family-centered care environment. The RN works collaboratively with the healthcare team and families to support optimal health outcomes for children while considering developmental, emotional, and cultural needs.

Essential Functions

  • Performs assessments and develops individualized plans of care for pediatric patients
  • Administers medications, treatments, and performs clinical procedures
  • Monitors patient conditions and communicates findings to the healthcare team
  • Supports daily activities including nutrition, hygiene, ambulation, and elimination
  • Provides age-appropriate education to patients and families
  • Ensures accurate documentation of care in accordance with organizational standards
  • Responds to and manages clinical emergencies effectively
  • Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate care and discharge planning
  • Adheres to infection control, safety protocols, and ethical standards of care

  • Demonstrated ability to provide developmentally appropriate care

Qualifications

Education

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN), required
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), preferred

Licenses/Certifications

  • Current and valid Registered Nurse license in the state of practice
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within the time frame specified in facility policy
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required within the time frame specified in facility policy
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), preferred

Experience

  • Previous pediatric or neonatal nursing experience preferred
  • 12-lead ECG, preferred
