Job Title: Registered Nurse – Pediatrics

Location: New York, NY

Contract Details

  • Duration: 13 Weeks
  • Shift: Night Shift
  • Schedule: 3x12-Hour Shifts
  • Shift Timing: 7:30 PM – 8:00 AM
  • Local Compensation: Up to $2,400/Week
  • Traveler Compensation: Up to $3,200/Week

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Pediatric Medical-Surgical Nursing to provide high-quality, compassionate care to pediatric patients in an acute care hospital setting. The ideal candidate will have recent Med-Surg Pediatrics experience, excellent clinical assessment skills, and the ability to care for patients throughout the surgical and recovery process.

The RN will collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver evidence-based care while ensuring patient safety and positive clinical outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans for pediatric patients.
  • Provide direct bedside nursing care to pre-operative and post-operative pediatric patients.
  • Administer prescribed medications and monitor patient responses.
  • Perform IV therapy, catheter insertion, wound care, and infection prevention procedures.
  • Monitor vital signs, recognize changes in patient condition, and promptly communicate concerns to the healthcare team.
  • Operate and monitor specialized medical equipment as required.
  • Interpret and document patient assessments, treatments, and clinical outcomes in electronic medical records.
  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
  • Assist with discharge planning and educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, and post-discharge care.
  • Maintain compliance with nursing standards, infection prevention guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
  • Promote a safe, compassionate, and patient-centered care environment.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN/ADN) from an accredited nursing program.

Licensure

  • Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License.

Experience

  • Minimum two (2) years of recent Medical-Surgical Pediatrics experience in a large acute care hospital.
  • Most recent pediatric experience must be within the past 12 months.
  • Strong competency in pediatric physical assessment, medication administration, wound care, infection prevention, IV therapy, post-operative care, patient education, and telemetry monitoring.

Required Certifications

  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS).
