Job Title: RN – Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)

Location: Bronx, NY
Duration: 14 Weeks
Employment Type: Contract

Compensation

  • Local Candidate: $2,622/week Gross
  • Traveler Candidate: $3,400/week Gross

Schedule

  • 3 Days per Week
  • 11.5 Hours per Day
  • 34.5 Hours per Week

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to provide specialized nursing care in a Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) setting. The RN will be responsible for monitoring and caring for patients recovering from anesthesia and surgical procedures while ensuring safe, high-quality patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
  • Monitor patients during the immediate post-anesthesia recovery phase.
  • Perform IV insertion, medication administration, and ongoing patient assessments.
  • Monitor vital signs, pain levels, and recovery progress.
  • Recognize and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition.
  • Collaborate with physicians, anesthesia providers, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care.
  • Ensure compliance with facility policies, patient safety standards, and evidence-based nursing practices.
  • Provide patient and family education regarding recovery and discharge instructions.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN/ADN) from an accredited nursing program required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Licensure & Certifications

  • Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License.
  • Primary Source Verification of RN License and Registration through NYSED.
  • Current AHA BLS Certification.
  • ACLS Certification required.

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of Medical/Surgical Nursing experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of IV Insertion experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of Phlebotomy experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of Conscious Sedation experience.
  • Acute Care experience preferred.
  • PACU/Recovery Room experience preferred.
