    Summary:

    Dan C Trigg Memorial Hospital is seeking a dedicated and experienced RN - Quality & Infection Prevention Consultant to lead quality improvement, patient safety, regulatory compliance, and infection prevention initiatives across the organization. This role serves as a key resource for clinical staff and leadership, helping ensure the delivery of safe, effective, patient-centered care while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

    The RN Quality & Infection Prevention Consultant collaborates with physicians, nurses, leaders, and interdisciplinary teams to monitor performance outcomes, identify opportunities for improvement, implement evidence-based practices, and promote compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.

    Provides leadership and subject-matter expertise for employee health, infection prevention and control, and clinical quality improvement at Dan C. Trigg Medical Center. The role promotes a safe environment by identifying and reducing infection and occupational-health risks for patients, employees, and visitors; conducting surveillance and data analysis; coordinating employee health services; and supporting program-level quality initiatives. The position collaborates with clinical, operational, physician, Human Resources, and Presbyterian system partners to improve outcomes, standardize processes, and maintain continuous readiness for federal, state, local, accreditation, and organizational requirements.

    Responsibilities:

    Quality Management & Performance Improvement

    • Coordinate and support organization-wide quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
    • Monitor, analyze, and report quality performance metrics, clinical outcomes, and regulatory measures.
    • Facilitate performance improvement projects designed to enhance patient care, operational efficiency, and clinical outcomes.
    • Conduct audits, reviews, and data analysis to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
    • Collaborate with leaders and caregivers to develop and implement corrective action plans.
    • Assist with preparation for surveys, inspections, and accreditation activities.

    Infection Prevention & Control

    • Lead the hospital's infection prevention and control program.
    • Conduct infection surveillance and investigate healthcare-associated infections (HAIs).
    • Monitor infection rates, identify trends, and develop strategies to reduce infection risk.
    • Ensure compliance with CDC, CMS, Joint Commission, state, and organizational infection prevention standards.
    • Conduct infection prevention rounds and environmental assessments.
    • Provide education and consultation to caregivers, providers, and leadership regarding infection prevention practices.
    • Collaborate with clinical teams during outbreak investigations and infection control events.

    Regulatory Compliance & Education

    • Maintain knowledge of healthcare regulations, accreditation requirements, and industry best practices.
    • Support policy development and revision related to quality, patient safety, and infection prevention.
    • Develop and deliver education related to quality improvement methodologies, patient safety, and infection prevention.
    • Serve as a resource for clinical staff regarding quality and infection prevention standards.

    Qualifications:

    Education: Bachelor's degree in nursing, health, microbiology, or another science-related field required.

    License: Current New Mexico Registered Nurse license or valid multistate compact Registered Nurse license required.

    Certification: Current Basic Life Support certification from an approved provider required (American Red Cross, American Heart Assoc, or ASHI)

    Experience: At least one year of healthcare quality-improvement or performance-improvement experience recommended. Must complete Presbyterian quality training, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, or an equivalent process-improvement certification or experience within three years of employment. Project management, data analysis, facilitation, team leadership, and written and verbal communication skills required. Proficiency with Microsoft Office is required. Experience with databases, statistical process-control applications, decision-support systems, benchmarking, process mapping, and project-management software is preferred
