Unit Notes - Radius: 60 MILES, DL must be submitted - Floating roles: Travelers are expected to float throughout the zone they are hired into. Each zone covers a 60 mile radius from the zone's city center which is where the 60 mile verbiage comes into play. The traveler is responsible for obtaining housing that makes this feasible as the requirement to float throughout the full 60 mile zone applies regardless of where the traveler obtains housing. - Week of orientation: Please ensure clinicians are in state for week of orientation even if first day modules are remote
Unit/Department PCU/IMC Float - What units are included in the float pool Mutliple unit PCU/IMC units that cover various specialities including: General, Cardiac, Neuro, Oncology, Rehab, Renal, Bariatrics, Ortho, Trauma, ED Obs, etc. - Nurse:Patient Ratios 1:3-4 dependent on acuity - Required Certifications (i.e., BLS, ACLS?) BLS, ACLS, NIHSS - Common diagnoses/Types of patients "Population: Adults- Geriatrics Cardiac, Neuro, Ortho, Oncology, Renal, Urology-post surgicals, General Surgery-post appy, Gynecology, Psych/Detox, ENT, General Medicine, stable long term placement patients, and more" - Experience or 'Must have' skills "Must have 2 years of PCU/IMC experience. Prefer prior neuro experience. Prefer Epic experience. Must have experience with cardiac drips, insulin, & ativan" - Are RNs required to titrate drips? Must be comfortable titrating & managing cardiac drips, insulin, ativan, & heparin. Common titratable &/or set rate drips Dopamine, dobutamine, cardizem, amio, ativan, insulin, & heparin - Charge Nurse/House Supervisor? Does the charge nurse take an assignment? Designated Charge on each unit; doesn't take a patient assignment unless necessary; more common for night shift charge to end up with a small pt assignment - Are there nurse aids on this unit/Ratios Yes - RT Equipment (vents, Cpap, BiPap, etc) Yes -Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?) "7-7, Schedule is made out by leadership for 6 wks at a time, travelers are expected to be flexible and help to fill gaps in permanent scheduling. All time off requests need to be submitted prior to starting assignment" - Weekend Requirements 6-9 weekend shifts in a 6 week schedule - Holiday Requirements May be asked to go into the Holiday Rotation - Is there a call or standby requirement?
