Job Summary
Will triage patients when needed and refill medications as approved by physicians. May have additional responsibilities such as; follow up on ER & inpatient reports. Responsible for providing professional nursing care for patients by the use and implementation of the nursing process of assessment, derivation of the nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation and re-evaluation of the care by using team approach. Be a contributing member to the health care team and must be able to communicate the needs of the patient to all disciplines involved in the patient's care.
Minimum Requirements
Graduate from an accredited school of nursing program. Must hold a valid license to practice Nursing in the State of Indiana. CPR at first available opportunity at WHS. Previous experience in medical office preferred but training will be provided. Responsible for continuous self professional development by attending seminars and maintaining CEU's.

Must be able to deal with the demands and stresses that are encountered when dealing with patients, significant others, physicians and other health care team members.
Must maintain professional nursing standards in accordance with the Indiana State Board of Nursing Regulations, and the Standards of Care established within the Department of nursing Services.
Deliver patient care through the Nursing Process of Assessment, deriving a Nursing Diagnosis, Planning, Implementation and Evaluation.
Must have some computer skills.
Essential Functions
Collect data on assigned patients pertaining to their initial and continuing needs and reports pertinent findings to the physician.
Collect lab data in accordance with CLIA guidelines.
Administers medications according to the department of nursing services policies and procedures. Report and document patient responses and pertinent observations.
Assume responsibility for learning and professional growth. Participate in the orientation and instruction of personnel as assigned. Promote and maintain effective working relationships within the assigned nursing units and other departments. Assist co-workers as necessary. Participate in unit meetings and in-services as assigned.
Serve as a patient advocate.
Support and practice within WHS policies and procedures.
Practice universal Precautions which include: hand washing, wearing/using personal protective equipment when in contact with needles/sharps/splashes or body fluids or anything considered to be a bloodborne pathogen, to prevent injury to self, patient and co-workers.
Maintain confidentiality and patient's rights to privacy. Does not discus the patient with anyone unless it is necessary to provide patient care and follows WHS statement on rights and responsibilities of the patient.
Perform CPR when necessary.
Treat patients and co-workers with compassion, dignity and respect.
Handle and dispose of Hazardous Chemicals and infectious wastes properly.
Demonstrate the ability to obtain and interpret information relevant to the patients needs in a manner that is consistent with knowledge of patient growth and development, and applies such knowledge and understanding so as to provide the range of treatment that is most appropriate for the patient.
Assures customer service meets or exceeds expectations of customers. Treats all customers with courtesy and respect.
Knowledge of medications often prescribed to patients.
Safety Standards
Position is listed as Category 1: constant exposure to blood or body fluids. Must be able to wash hands frequently and wear gloves without causing skin irritation. Must use proper body mechanics when repositioning or ambulating the geriatric, adult, adolescent, pediatric, or infant patients who are unable to reposition or ambulate themselves.
