Unit Notes - Unit: Cardiac Cath Lab - # of Suites: 2 suites; 4-14 cases per day - Certs: BLS, ACLS for nurses; techs also need CVT, RT, CA Fluro. - Ratios: 1 to 1 - EMR: Techs will scrub and do hemodynamic monitoring; nurses do sedation monitoring - Charge Nurse: Yes, no patients - Nurse Aides: No, do use cath lab techs for scrubbing and hemodynamic monitoring - Weekend Requirement: Call twice a month on weekends - Call: Twice a month - Holidays: Rotate w/ perm staff - Scrub Color: Provided by hospital - Tele: N/A - Vents: N/A - Hospitalist or Intensivist in house: Cardiologist - IV Team: Nurses start own - RT 24/7: Yes - Pharmacy 24/7: Yes - Shifts: Business hour shifts and then call for coverage - Floating: No - Floor specific orientation: Depends on experience and if a nurse or a tech - Common diagnosis / Types of patients: STEMI, TAVERS, interventional and diagnostic caths, TAVR, EVAR (Endovascular Aneurysm Repair), cardio mams, no IR, implants - Additional Notes: Techs will scrub and do hemodynamic monitoring; nurses do sedation monitoring; RNs need concious sedation testing as part of protocol
