PRN Registered Nurse - Special Procedures Unit (SPU) / IR

Baylor Scott & White McLane Children's is seeking a PRN Registered Nurse to support the Special Procedures Unit (SPU). This role provides pre‑procedure and intra‑procedure nursing care and documentation for pediatric patients undergoing a variety of procedures, including GI endoscopy/colonoscopy, bronchoscopy, interventional radiology, sedated MRI and radiology procedures, minor surgeries, invasive hem/onc procedures, PICC line placements, dental procedures, and hearing tests.

Schedule: PRN; department operates Monday-Friday, 6:30 AM - 5:00 PM. Typical shifts may include a 10‑hour shift per week based on department needs. No call required.

Requirements:

• Current RN license
• 3-5 years of clinical nursing experience (pediatrics preferred)

Job Summary

As an Interventional Radiology RN, use nursing expertise to deliver patient care with the healthcare team. Tasks include evaluating health, identifying issues, creating care plans, and tracking treatment responses. Help patients navigate their healthcare safely. Use knowledge of needs to prevent issues.

• Prioritizing patient and family needs is crucial. Responsibilities involve developing, implementing, and evaluating nursing care plans. Adjust as needed.

• A basic understanding of the patient care practices, medical terminology, medications, and equipment used in interventional radiology nursing.

• Basic computer skills, particularly knowledge of electronic medical documentation systems and email.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an Accredited Program or (2) years of work experience above the minimum qualification
• The applicant''s major field of study should be Nursing.
• Candidates must be Registered Nurses(RN).
• A (BLS) Basic Life Support certification is required or must obtain within (30) thirty days of hire
