RN Supervisor – Night Shift

Salary: $92,000–$97,000 per year

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) Supervisor to oversee clinical operations and provide leadership during the night shift at a long-term care facility in Rochester, NY.

The ideal candidate will have strong clinical judgment, proven nursing leadership experience, and a commitment to delivering high-quality resident care. This position is responsible for supervising nursing staff, responding to clinical needs and emergencies, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring smooth overnight operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond promptly and appropriately to resident or unit emergencies.

• Communicate with residents and families regarding changes in condition and plans of care.

• Receive, communicate, and document clinical information while keeping the Director of Nursing (DON) and Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) informed of significant developments and needs.

• Supervise and support RNs, LPNs, and nursing assistants during the assigned shift.

• Provide orientation, training, mentoring, and clinical guidance to nursing staff.

• Complete and contribute to staff performance evaluations as appropriate.

• Conduct nursing and quality rounds throughout the facility and address identified concerns.

• Educate staff and assist with the implementation of new policies, procedures, and clinical practices.

• Ensure compliance with facility policies, nursing standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.

• Oversee the overall clinical operations of the assigned shift.

• Establish and maintain high standards of resident care.

• Review resident records and monitor quality of care.

• Monitor resident conditions and follow up on changes in status.

• Address questions, concerns, and complaints from residents and families in a professional manner.

• Ensure adequate availability of medical supplies and equipment.

• Collaborate with nursing leadership and administration to address staffing, clinical, and operational needs.

• Mentor less experienced nurses and provide ongoing clinical and professional guidance.

• Promote a positive, accountable, and team-oriented nursing environment.

Qualifications

• Active and unrestricted New York State RN license.

• Minimum 2 years of long-term care experience.

• Minimum 1 year of nursing leadership or unit management experience.

• Current CPR certification.

• Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Basic computer and electronic medical record skills.

• Ability to work independently and make sound clinical decisions during the night shift.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and support nursing staff.
