Job Summary:

Position Title: RN Supervisor
Location: Pittsburgh, PA 15243
Duration: 3+ Months
Work Schedule: Shift would be 3:00 pm – 11:00 pm and every other weekend.
Pay rate: $40.67

Summary
An RN Supervisor combines clinical expertise, leadership, and administrative skills to ensure high-quality patient care, efficient nursing operations, and professional development of nursing staff. This role maintains compliance with healthcare standards and fosters a safe, compassionate, and effective care environment.

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Supervise and mentor a team of registered nurses and other healthcare staff
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care in accordance with organizational policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans for patients
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of team members, providing regular feedback and coaching
  • Manage staffing levels, scheduling, and workload distribution to ensure efficient and effective operation of the facility
  • Participates in quality improvement initiatives and performance improvement projects
  • Maintain current knowledge of healthcare regulations, standards, and best practices
  • Act as a liaison between staff, patients, and families, and healthcare providers
  • Handle patient complaints and address any issues or concerns in a professional and timely manner
  • Prioritizes and completes assignments prior to the end of the shift, adapts to changes and assists co-workers.
  • Ensures that all required nursing documentation is completed within established timeframes. Reviews all documentation required by the RN, LPN, and Nurse Aide for accuracy and completeness, and provides direction accordingly.
  • Monitors medication passes and treatments schedules to ensure that medications are being administered as ordered, that treatments are provided as scheduled, and storage and control of medications and supplies is maintained.
  • Performs quality improvement audits.
  • Completes performance appraisals on employees.
  • Completes annual or as needed competencies and training in accordance with required timeframes.
  • Follows through with recommendations for disciplinary actions assuring adherence to policies, procedures, and contractual language.
  • Performs related duties as assigned or directed by nursing administration.
  • Ensure compliance with current applicable federal, state and local regulations and facility policies and procedures.

Additional Tasks
  • Treats all residents with dignity and respect. Promotes and protects all residents' rights.
  • Establishes a culture of compliance by adhering to all facility policies and procedures.
  • Complies with standards of business conduct, and state/federal regulations and guidelines.
  • Follows appropriate safety and hygiene measures at all times to protect residents and themselves.
  • Maintains confidentiality of protected health information, including verbal, written, and electronic communications.
  • Reports noncompliance with policies, procedures, regulations, or breaches in confidentiality to appropriate personnel. Reports any retaliation or discrimination to HR or compliance officer.
  • Reports any allegations of abuse, neglect, misappropriation of property, exploitation, or mistreatment of residents to supervisor and/or administrator. Protects residents from abuse and cooperates with all investigations.
  • Reports any occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and/or hazardous chemicals in accordance with facility policy.
  • Participates in all life safety and emergency drills and trainings. Fulfills responsibilities as assigned during implementation or activation of the facility's emergency plan.
  • Reports work-related injuries and illnesses immediately to supervisor.
  • Follows established infection control policies and procedures.
  • As a condition of employment, completes all assigned training and skills competency.
  • Completes assigned portions of MDS. Attends care-plan meetings of assigned residents.
  • Participates in QAPI or facility assessment activities as needed, such as carrying out duties assigned as part of a performance improvement committee
  • Accepts nursing assignments, as staffing needs require. Performs nursing duties as assigned, in accordance with facility policies and procedures.
  • Uses proper lifting and body mechanics while delivering care to residents.

  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    Knowledge of:
    • Nursing and medical practices and procedures.
    • Laws, regulations, and guidelines that govern long-term care.
    Skill In:

    Organize facts, ideas, and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
    • Seek new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing practices.
    • Manage and direct a culturally diverse workforce.
    • Communicate with medical and nursing staff as well as other departments.
    • Work with ill, disabled, elderly, and emotionally labile people within a long-term care facility. Plan, organize, direct, control, coordinate, and evaluate the quality and appropriateness of care and treatment provided by both professional nursing staff and direct care staff in assigned unit.
    • Ensure delivery of compassionate quality care and nursing supervision as evidenced by adequate staffcoverage on the units, general cleanliness, and maintaining optimal resident functions.
    • Promote safe work practices, safety rules, and accident prevention procedures to prevent employee injury and illness.
    • Meet general health requirements according to facility policy, including medical and physical exams and checking immunity status to various infectious diseases.
    • Assist in evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
    • Works beyond normal working hours and on weekends, holidays when necessary.

    Qualifications:

    Minimum Requirements:
    • A nursing degree from an accredited college or university,
    • Minimum two (2) years of experience providing direct care in long-term care, restorative or geriatric setting as an LPN/RN.
    • Minimum (1) year of experience in nursing management.
    • Current CPR Certification
    • Must also meet state requirements for relevant lic ensures or certifications and have no disciplinary action in effect against professional li cense .
