Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our surgical services nurse at Glendale Memorial Medical Center you will prepare patients for surgical procedures and assist in the operating room to ensure they receive excellent nursing when they are at their most vulnerable.

Every day, you will leverage your expertise to provide individualized, comprehensive care, making critical assessments, performing skilled procedures, and meticulously implementing patient care plans. You'll collaborate seamlessly within an interdisciplinary team, contributing to a dynamic environment focused on optimal patient outcomes.

To be successful in this role, you will assist the surgeon during the actual surgery, applying your surgical nursing knowledge and skills in the operating room.

Every day you will go over consent forms answer questions about the procedure do preoperative assessments make sure the equipment is ready to go and update family members on the surgery status during the operation. You will be expected to directly assist the surgeon during the actual surgery. As a surgical services nurse with us you are expected to apply your surgical nursing knowledge and skills in the operating room and it doesn't stop there. Most patients never realize the part you played in getting them through one of their most vulnerable moments. Honoring your commitment to care for others is thanks enough. Our leadership is visible and the hospital is expanding its services. Call is required and is based on shift and patient volume. Our surgical department consists of 8 operating rooms with a designated cardiac and urology suite. The OR suites are equipped with state-of-the-art lighting tables and equipment. While all service lines are supported hearts vascular major ortho and neuro spine are the most prominent.

The recent addition of the DaVinci Xi will allow this surgery department to provide a high level of care. This collaborative department supports learning and professional growth. We believe in a teamwork approach where each person is respected and valued.

Responsibilities

  • Assist surgeon and surgical team in the OR
  • Care for patients before during and after procedures
  • Develop and implement nursing care plan for surgical patients
  • Ensure operating rooms are prepped with all necessary equipment and supplies
  • Demonstrate a high level of compassion for patients

This position is represented by CNA.

Job Requirements

Required

  • 2 years acute care hospital experience
  • Minimum of 6 months previous acute care RN experience in same unit
  • Current and Active California RN Licensure
  • AHA Basic Life Support / AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support
  • CNOR requires call

Preferred

  • Bachelors Of Nursing
  • 2+ years experience PeriOp 101
