Job Summary


The Registered Nurse (RN) – Surgery is responsible for providing direct patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures. The RN collaborates with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the surgical team to ensure safe, effective, and high-quality patient care in the operating room.


Key Responsibilities


  • Prepare patients for surgical procedures by reviewing medical history, obtaining vital signs, and ensuring informed consent.
  • Assist surgeons and surgical team members during procedures by maintaining sterile technique and providing necessary instruments and supplies.
  • Monitor patients’ vital signs and condition during surgery.
  • Ensure operating room equipment is properly prepared, functioning, and sterile.
  • Provide pre-operative and post-operative patient care and education.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and surgical documentation.
  • Follow infection control, safety, and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with physicians, anesthesiologists, surgical technologists, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Respond to emergency situations during surgical procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and organized surgical environment.

Qualifications


  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support).
  • Minimum 1–2 years of Operating Room or surgical nursing experience.
  • Cardiac Experience Required

Education
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited nursing program.
