Summary
Responsible for the day-to-day coordination of surgical care of team-specific patients and staff in Surgery, including OR, PACU, and Sterile Processing, and reports directly to the Manager of Surgical Services. The Surgery RN Supervisor provides leadership to RNs, Surgical Technicians, and other staff through effective planning, communication, mentoring, teaching, and continuous quality improvement efforts in all areas of the Surgery department.
Responsibilities
Assigns and delegates patient care according to staff members skill levels, experience, and patient acuity through fiscal accountability while ensuring adequacy of resources. Shares unit responsibility for leadership, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care. Makes decisions, considering the impact to the clinic, hospital, and other departments. Supports and leads change. Participates in creating department goals, objectives, standards of nursing practice/care, policies, and procedures, and supports their ongoing implementation and evaluation. Serves as a communication link between department leadership and staff, actively problem solves, provides accurate ongoing daily communication. Promotes public relations to establish the department as a provider of choice in central Minnesota. Has accountability for planning, implementing, evaluating, and communicating nursing care. Collaborates and provides professional nursing care in accordance with established organizational policies, procedures, protocols, and the American Nurses Association Scope and Standards of Practice. Provides leadership through effective communication, mentoring, teaching, and continuous quality improvement efforts. Delegates care according to skill level, experience, acuity, fiscal accountability, and adequacy of resources. Age-appropriate care is provided to patients and families. Supports and implements patient safety and other safety practices as appropriate.
Schedule
Full-time, salaried position. 80 hours per two weeks | Typically 7:00AM to 3:30PM, however flexible availability is needed.
Pay and Benefits
Salary starts at $92,934 annually, more depending on experience. Full salary range: $92,934 to $139,505 annual salary. Full-time benefits: Medical, dental, PTO, retirement, employee discounts, and more!
Qualifications
Bachelors degree or higher in Nursing or obtained within 3 years of hire. Registered Nurse License in the State of Minnesota required. Basic Life Support, AHA Healthcare Provider card required. Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) preferred. Minimum of 2 years of experience in perioperative services required. Clinical management experience preferred. Demonstrated skills of organizational management, leadership, communication, and clinical expertise. Previous experience in coaching, mentoring, leading, and engaging staff towards positive change preferred.
