Title: Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit / Telemetry
Hours: 36 hours per week | 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | Every Other Weekend
Location: Cape May, NJ
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) team for a night shift opportunity. This position will primarily support the Telemetry PCU, caring for patients who require continuous cardiac monitoring and a higher level of care than a medical-surgical unit, while not requiring intensive care services.
The ideal candidate is confident managing complex cardiac patients, has extensive telemetry experience in a Level I Trauma Center, and is comfortable floating to various inpatient units as needed.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the Progressive Care/Telemetry Unit.
- Continuously monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, responding promptly to changes in patient condition.
- Administer medications, including cardiac drips, in accordance with physician orders and hospital protocols.
- Perform ongoing patient assessments and develop individualized plans of care.
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, case managers, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Accurately document patient care using the EPIC electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatments, medications, and discharge planning.
- Float to other hospital units based on staffing and patient care needs while maintaining high-quality patient care.
Qualifications
Required
- Active New Jersey Registered Nurse (RN) License
- Minimum 3 years of Telemetry nursing experience in a Level I Trauma Center
- Pediatric nursing experience
- Experience managing cardiac drips
- Experience using EPIC electronic medical records
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
- Current PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification
