RN Trauma Process Improvement Coordinator

  • SHIFT: FT Days, 6am-4pm (varies, 8 or 10 hour shifts)

  • Experience: 3 years RN; 1 year of recent ICU or ER in a Trauma Level 1 or 2 hospital

  • Requires: BSN, BLS, ACLS, (ENPC within 180 days or PALS within 30 days), (ATCH or TNCC within 180 days), (Trauma Outcome Performance Improvement Course within 12 months)

  • Prefers: experience in chart review/abstraction

Job Summary

As a Trauma Process Improvement Coordinator RN, you''ll work with the Manager of Trauma Programs. You''ll manage the Trauma Performance Enhancement Program. You''ll oversee trauma care services to ensure excellent attention and recovery for patients. Also, you''ll organize performance enhancement activities. This includes gathering information, researching, tracking progress, and comparing data with benchmarks.

Essential Functions of the Role

  • You''ll work with the Trauma Program Manager and Trauma Medical Director to create a Trauma Process Improvement Program. Ensure the trauma program meets local regulations and accreditation standards.
  • You''ll track patient care issues in trauma process improvement. Tracking issues accurately is vital, ensuring resolution for each one.
  • You''re expected to take part in assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating processes and education improvements for trauma patient care.
  • Integrating the trauma registry into the trauma PI process is a crucial part of your role.
  • Additionally, you''ll be tasked with fusing trauma PI strategies with broader hospital or system PI strategies.
  • Update Trauma Department Dashboards and review PI project results for dashboard metrics to assess.
  • You will work with the team to create trauma education programs. These programs will follow new trauma care guidelines and be based on research and evidence. They will address specific educational needs identified through trauma registry data.
  • You would provide trauma education in the Emergency Department. Coordinate outreach education programs like ATLS, ATCN, and TNCC.
  • There will be opportunities for you to participate in community and hospital outreach programs.

Key Success Factors

  • Familiarity with trauma process improvement, its terms and standards.
  • Awareness and proficiency in established standards and procedures relating to nursing and patient care.
  • Insight into laws, rules, regulations, standards, protocols, and policies that govern nursing care in your assigned department.
  • Understanding medical terms and promoting health, managing diseases, and preventing illness is essential. Knowing medications, effects, dosages, and side effects is also important.
  • Respect and understanding for professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights are crucial.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor''s degree.

  • You need to be a registered nurse (RN)

  • Must obtain (ACLS )Advanced Cardiac and Life Support and (BLS ) Basic Life support certification within (30) thirty days.

  • Within (12) twelve months of hire, you should complete the Trauma Outcome Performance Improvement Course.

  • Get (PALS) Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification in (30) thirty days or (ENPC) Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course in (180) one hundred and eighty days from hire date.

  • Either Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses or the Trauma Nurse Core Course should be accomplished within 180 days of hiring.

  • Experience: 3 years RN; 1 year of recent ICU or ER in a Trauma Level 1 or 2 hospital
