RN Triage Cardiology Kernodle Clinic is a respected and progressive multi-specialty group practice with Clinics in Burlington, Mebane and Elon. Kernodle Clinic is a multi-specialty practice with approximately 100 Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers located just off I-40/I-85. Burlington is accessible as a day trip to NC mountains and beaches. Ample recreational activities, shopping, and easy access to metros (Greensboro, Raleigh and Durham) are unique to Burlington. We are currently looking for a patient-focused individual to fill a RN Triage position within our Cardiology Department. Two or more years of RN experience in an ambulatory or specialty care setting is preferred. Previous experience in Cardiology/Internal Medicine a plus. Proficiency with EPIC or similar electronic health record (EHR) preferred. Job Type: Full-time - 38+ hours a week, Monday through Friday Required Competencies/Certifications: High school diploma or equivalent Graduation from an accredited Registered Nursing program Current RN license Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through AHA. ACLS preferred Excellent attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment Duties Include, but not limited to the following: * Perform telephone and electronic triage for cardiology patients using nursing assessment skills and established protocols * Assess patient symptoms and determine urgency of care needs, escalating appropriately to providers or emergency services when indicated * Manage patient calls regarding: * Chest pain * Shortness of breath * Palpitations * Edema * Blood pressure concerns * Medication side effects/questions * Anticoagulation concerns * Post-procedure symptoms * Device-related concerns * Review and respond to patient portal messages in a timely manner * Coordinate care with physicians, APPs, hospitals, pharmacies, diagnostic departments, and outside facilities * Assist with medication refills per protocol and provider direction * Review laboratory and diagnostic results and communicate provider recommendations to patients * Provide patient education regarding medications, procedures, disease processes, and treatment plans * Support workflow improvements and assist with reducing provider and clinic staff burden related to clinical messaging and triage * Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record * Participate in quality improvement initiatives and departmental workflow optimization * Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality standards |
