Your Role as a Wound Care Nurse: Comprehensive Wound Assessments: Evaluate and document wounds, pressure injuries, ostomies, and other skin integrity concerns, developing individualized care plans. Treatment Management: Provide evidence-based wound care treatments, dressing selection, and therapeutic interventions to promote optimal healing. Patient Family Education: Educate patients and caregivers on wound prevention, treatment plans, nutrition, and self-care techniques. Clinical Consultation: Serve as a wound care resource for nursing staff and healthcare providers regarding best practices in skin and wound management. Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with physicians, therapists, dietitians, and nursing staff to coordinate comprehensive patient care. Prevention Initiatives: Lead and support pressure injury prevention programs and skin care initiatives throughout the organization. Documentation Compliance: Ensure timely, accurate documentation and adherence to regulatory standards, policies, and evidence-based guidelines. Skills: Strong assessment, communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently while maintaining excellent collaboration across disciplines. Qualifications: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license. Experience in wound care, medical-surgical nursing, or related clinical specialty preferred. Wound Care Certification (WCC, CWON, CWCN, or equivalent) preferred or willingness to obtain certification. Demonstrated knowledge of wound assessment, treatment modalities, and pressure injury prevention.
