Day Shift, 4 x 10s, M - F, 0630 - 1500 or 0830 to 1700, 13weeks, 05/11 start, no set off day. Must have RNFA and experience in ortho, ortho totals, gyn, and general surgery. One night of call per week and one weekend per month.

Located in Templeton amongst the oak trees, Our facility Twin Cities has been serving northern San Luis Obispo County since 1977. Comprised of a 122-bed acute care facility, our team provides exceptional care in emergency medicine, orthopedics, obstetrics, digestive disorders, wound care, and various medical, surgical and outpatient services. Locals enjoy weekly farmers markets in downtown Templeton, farm-to-fork dining, beautiful landscapes for hiking and biking, and beach days just fifteen minutes away at Cambria and Morro Bay.

Job Summary:

Perform the professional functions of a Registered Nurse in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of patients.

Coordinate, manage, provide and delegate patient care.

Responsible for meeting the established Standards of Nursing Practice, and promoting cooperation among the health care team. In addition, the Registered Nurse shall meet personal accountabilities as defined in the Tenet Standards of Conduct, Service, People, Quality, Growth and Cost.

Assit under the direction of the primary operating surgeon in the perioperative care of the patients undergoing a surgical experience.

The RNFA functions within the policies and guidelines established by the facility and reports directly to Director of Perioperative Services.

The RNFA is an expanded role of the registered nurse and is accountable for exemplifying leadership and professionalism in the implementation of the role. This position is represented by CNA.

Job Requirements:

Education and Work Experience: Graduate of a school of nursing: Required

Certification of completion of an approved didactic RNFA course: Required

Three years scrub and circulate experience in an acute care facility: Required

Annual surgeon review: Required

Licenses/Certifications: Current RN license in state of practice: Required

Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification: Required

ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support): Required

Certified Nurse, Operating Room (CNOR): Required

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS OR HS-PALS OR RQIPALS) certification: Preferred

Current Professional Liability insurance: Required

Registered Nurse (RN) license in state of practice: Required

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Healthstream Advanced Cardiac Life Support (HS-ACLS) or RQIACLS: Required

Professional Liability Insurance (PLI): Required

Essential Functions:

Assures patients personal needs are met. Assist in reducing noise level of nursing unit.

Participates in the Standards of Conduct.

Shows a commitment to co-workers. Works as a team to assure all patients have their needs met. Maintains patient, co-worker, and hospital privacy.

Documentation is clear, concise, and legible. Delivers a clear, concise report.

Completes all assigned quality monitors as directed by department manager.

Follows infection control guidelines.

Obtains history/physical assessment according to unit specific nursing protocol for all age groups.

Reviews medical history, physical examination, and all available assessment data.

Identifies abnormal diagnostic data and reports to appropriate person.

Provides information needed to begin discharge planning in a timely manner, and to the appropriate personnel.

Recognizes signs and symptoms of cardiac or respiratory distress, or other impending emergencies.

Demonstrates knowledge and ability to effectively function in Code Blue and other emergency situations.

Accurately administers and charts medications according to hospital policies and procedures using patient?s 6 rights.

Implements and /or assists others in implementation and documentation of planned education. Assesses patient?s educational needs.

Demonstrates intraoperative competency as an RNFA: manual dexterity, suturing and litigating, providing hemostasis, exposing the surgical site, position, prepping and draping.

Assist in the development and education of new staff members.

Attends and participates in staff meetings.

Completes education, training, and competencies for department specific skills.

Successfully adapts to changes in the unit, environment, and work flow.

Assures all patient charge items are charged and documented correctly.

Utilizes department resources appropriately. Minimizes incidental overtime.

Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
